A combined team of Philippine National Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operatives have arrested over the weekend two “high value” targets in Matnog, Sorsogon and seized some P14.28 million worth of shabu.
Police tentatively identified the suspects only by their aliases as “Pan” and “Ham,” both from Lanao del Sur.
Police Region 5 spokesperson Malu Calubaquib said the agents confiscated two Chinese team bags containing 2,000 grams of suspected shabu valued at P13.6 million, and one plastic sachet containing 100 grams of suspected shabu estimated at P680,000.
The operation was conducted at Purok 1, in Barangay Hidhid, Matnog, Sorsogon.
Calubaquib said the investigators are looking into possible source of the illegal drugs considering that suspects were not natives of the Bicol region.
The suspects are currently detained at the Matnog municipal jail as criminal charges of violation of the country’s illegal drugs law were being prepared against them.
