The Philippine Air Force (PAF) and Philippine Army (PA)—the air and land units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)—garnered the highest trust and satisfaction ratings in the Fourth Quarter 2024 Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey of OCTA Research Group.

PAF secured a +73 percent net trust rating and a +71 percent net satisfaction rating, according to the latest public opinion poll. About 75 percent of adult Filipinos also trust the PAF, while only two percent distrust it, resulting in a net trust rating of +73 percent.

Regarding the feelings or opinions about the PAF, about 73 percent of adult Filipinos are satisfied with the overall accomplishments of the said unit. In contrast, only two percent say they are dissatisfied, resulting in a net satisfaction rating of +71 percent.

“These findings show widespread public trust and approval of the Philippine Air Force. Across regions and demographics, Filipinos recognize the Philippine Air Force’s dedication to protecting the country and responding to evolving security challenges across regions and demographics,” the survey said.

Across major areas, the PAF’s net trust rating ranges from +69 to +80, with the highest net trust rating observed in Visayas. Its net trust rating is highest among adult Filipinos in Class E (+77) in terms of socioeconomic classes.

Across regions, the PAF’s net trust rating ranges from +54 to +100. It received its highest net trust rating in the Negros Island Region and Davao Region, followed by the Bicol Region (+95). Calabarzon (+54) and Soccsksargen (+55) recorded relatively lower net trust ratings for the unit.

Meanwhile, the survey also found that a significant majority (78 percent) of adult Filipinos were satisfied with the Army and its overall accomplishments, while two percent were dissatisfied, resulting in a net satisfaction rating of +76.

Further, a significant majority (77 percent) of adult Filipinos said they trust the Army, while only two percent distrust it, delivering a net trust rating of +75.

“The survey results reported here are part of a broader study of the country’s security sector. The results presented here are commissioned by the Philippine Army and focus on the public perceptions of the Philippine Army,” OCTA Research said.

In terms of major geographic areas, the Army’s net satisfaction rating was consistently high, having the highest rating in Visayas (+84). Mindanao was a close second +82, followed by National Capital Region +79, and Balance Luzon (areas in Luzon outside of the Greater Metro Manila area) at +72.

Among socioeconomic classes, its net satisfaction ratings were highest in Class E (+80) but lowest in Class ABC (+68).

“As a result of all our programs and genuine commitment to serve, the Philippine Army gained an excellent trust and satisfaction rating in the recent Tugon ng Masa Survey in the 4th Quarter 2024 conducted by OCTA Research,” Army spokesperson Col. Louie Dema-ala said in a statement.

This manifests that most Filipinos trust and are willing to fight with the Philippine Army to defend the country and safeguard national sovereignty against any foreign aggression,” he added.

The survey fieldwork was conducted from November 10 to 16, 2024, using face-to-face interviews. One thousand two hundred (1,200) male and female probability respondents aged 18 and above were interviewed for the study.
