Marcos assures gov’t efforts to address impact of Typhoon ‘Enteng’

President Ferdinand Marcos on Tuesday assured swift government action to aid areas in Luzon and Visayas ravaged by Typhoon Enteng.

In a statement, President Marcos said the government has delivered more than P16 million in assistance through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to support those in need.

Additionally, P65.56 million in standby funds and P2.60 billion worth of food and non-food items have been prepared for further relief efforts.

“We have P480.61 million in health logistics ready in our regions to ensure immediate healthcare services for all,” the President said.

He emphasized the ongoing efforts of rescue teams, noting that more than 63,000 individuals have been safely evacuated to 452 evacuation centers.

The chief executive called on local governments to address waste management and noted that road-clearing operations have begun. Over 1,700 pieces of equipment have also been deployed, with power restoration underway and emergency communication systems available.

The president said more than 1,700 pieces of equipment have been prepositioned in regions to ensure that roads remain accessible.

Power restoration efforts are underway, and emergency communications equipment, along with over 2,000 search, rescue, and retrieval assets, are available if needed.

President Marcos called on the public to remain vigilant as Typhoon Enteng is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday.
