Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is still in Indonesia, according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI), which is monitoring her whereabouts of the former local government official turned fugitive.
“Our counterpart confirmed that she is still in Indonesia. Former mayor Alice Guo has not yet made any attempts to move or transfer to another country,” BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said.
The BI also reported that Wesley Guo, her brother, is also still in Indonesia but authorities cannot confirm where he was hiding.
“We are waiting for confirmation from our Indonesian counterparts about any updates on his trip,” Sandoval said.
Guo’s name was listed on the immigration lookout bulletin following ongoing investigations into her true identity and alleged links to illegal activities in connection with the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) in Bamban, Tarlac.
Meanwhile, Guo’s sister Shiela and business associate Cassandra Li Ong, are currently detained at the National Bureau of Investigation after they were intercepted in Indonesia and deported back to the Philippines.
Guo’s sister and Ong were expected to cooperate leading to the arrest of the dismissed mayor.
“The two women will help us because of the information we could get from them, ” the BI said.
Sandoval said Guo’s group possibly exited the Philippines through Sabah, Malaysia because based on documents, they did not go through formal airports and seaports.
It is possible that they passed through Sabah, Malaysia possibly through illegal means, so they did not go through the usual immigration process, she added.
The BI said their passports were not processed by Philippine Immigration, adding there were no departure stamps on their passports, but they had an entry in Sabah.
The BI is now investigating and backtracking the possible route of Guo’s group.
