More than 200 areas in Philippines still submerged in flood

A total of 253 areas in the country were still submerged in flood due to habagat, Typhoon Butchoy and Carina, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday said.

Based on its latest report,  the agency said that Central Luzon still holds the highest number of flooded areas, from 64 last Wednesday to 202.

In Mimaropa region, 22 areas were still flooded while 43 areas in Calabarzon already subsided.

NDRRMC also reported that 109 flooded areas in Region 12 were also subsided, bringing the total to 389 areas in the whole country which are now flood free.

Meanwhile, areas affected by the bad weather rose to 1.3 million individuals, 500,000 of those are reported from Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

There still 90 roads and 6 bridges in the entire country were not passable and 24 areas still have power interruptions.

One airport and 11 seaports in Mimaropa were also affected and still non-operational due to the effects of Habagat, Butchoy and Carina.
