The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on Friday said it is monitoring reports of a global cyber outage whose impact extends to the Philippines.
“The (DICT), through the Cybersecurity Bureau and the National Computer Emergency Response Team, is vigilantly monitoring the ongoing software outage allegedly caused by a faulty update of a cybersecurity provider,” DICT spokesperson Renato A. Paraiso said in a statement.
“This outage is affecting companies globally, including those in the Philippines, that use the said cybersecurity product,” he added.
The DICT assured the public that it does not use the same cybersecurity service provider, with none of its systems or assets affected.
“We are in continuous communication with relevant stakeholders to obtain detailed information and assess the full impact of this incident,” Paraiso said.
