TALA Philippines on Saturday held its 13th TALAkayan workshop to boost financial literacy among Filipinos.
The event at Trinoma Activity Center featured financial expert Salve Duplito, who offered advice on budgeting, debt management, investing and entrepreneurship.
Attendees included aspiring and established entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, or MSMEs. An accompanying exhibit showcased products from 17 local brands and businesses supported by Iskaparante Network and the radio show “Panalong Diskarte.”
TALA, a fintech company, aims to increase financial inclusion by improving financial literacy. A 2021 survey by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas found that only 2 percent of Filipinos could answer basic financial literacy questions.
“I cannot emphasize enough the importance of financial literacy and education in achieving your goals and unlocking your full potential,” said Moritz Gastl, TALA Philippines general manager.
TALAkayan workshops are interactive and tailored to specific audiences. Previous sessions targeted conditional cash transfer beneficiaries in Pasig City and women and mothers in Quezon City.
TALA provides online credit to underserved Filipinos and has extended more than $4 billion in loans to 8 million people worldwide.
