The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) on Wednesday said it is considering filing a petition seeking to cancel the birth certificate of controversial Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
“We are seriously considering PSA’s (Philippine Statistics Authority) recommendation to file a petition for the cancellation of Mayor Guo’s birth certificate,” Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra said.
According to the Solicitor General, this is among the legal actions that the OSG is studying which he said cannot be publicly disclosed.
The OSG has already formed a team to conduct an investigation into Guo.
The team has been coordinating with various government agencies to gather facts about the Bamban Mayor.
During Wednesday’s Senate hearing, it was discovered that a different “Alice Leal Guo” exists in the database of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Both “Alice Leal Guo” were born on the same date and year.
The PSA already recommended the cancellation of the mayor’s birth certificate.
Guo became the subject of various inquiries after her name was dragged into the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (Pogo) hub in Tarlac that was believed to be involved in illegal activities.
