Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna on Thursday announced that senior citizens of the city will be receiving P12,000 annually starting 2025.
This benefit was signed into law yesterday through City Ordinance number 9081.
According to Lacuna, the city has scoured its coffers to pull funds to extend this benefit to its senior residents.
“We, the council, worked hard to make this into a reality. We are one with our senior residents, and we feel their struggles,” the incumbent mayor said.
“We hope that this law will help our senior citizens in their daily needs, especially for their maintenance medicines,” she added.
Meanwhile, Manila senior citizens are grateful for the passage of the law.
Senior citizen allowance beneficiary Lily Desalesa from Brgy. 179, expressed their gratitude and joy to this exciting news.
“We are grateful for the increase in our allowance because this benefit will allow us to buy more maintenance medicines,” said Lola Lily.
