MORE than 1,000 needy residents of Imus City, Cavite went home on Friday with P5,200 in their pockets, courtesy of the government through the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program being spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Imus Mayor Alex Advincula and Cavite Rep. Adrian Advincula led the subsidy payout held at the Imus Sports Complex in Brgy. Poblacion 1-A.
A total of 1,276 beneficiaries received ₱5,200 each through the TUPAD program, an assistance initiative that provides temporary employment to temporarily idle workers.
“The beneficiaries are those who do community work in our area, if you notice, such as sweeping the roads, planting trees, and cleaning the drainage systems in our city,” the mayor said.
Meanwhile, the Tulong-Eskwela Program, the newest program of the city government that aims to meet the needs of students and their families, was also recently launched in the city.
The initial beneficiaries were the parents and guardians of students in Gen. Pantaleon Garcia and Gen. Juan Castañeda Senior High School.
They received P3,000 pesos each for education expenses.
