The Taguig City government is actively promoting an urban farming project to encourage a greener environment and a healthier lifestyle among its residents.

Just recently, the City Agriculture Office (CAO) harvested 40 kilograms of fruits, root crops, and vegetables from the city’s urban demo farms.

The Taguig City Integrated Urban Farm (TCIUF), and the Lakeshore and Taguig Urban Demo Farms at the Senator Rene Compañero Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School and RP Cruz Elementary School yielded the significant harvest.

The produce included Chinese cabbages (pechay), eggplants (talong), sweet potato tops (camote tops), malabar spinach (alugbati), taro or elephant’s ear (gabi), lady’s fingers (okra), bitter gourds (ampalaya), sponge gourds (patola), upland water spinach (upland kangkong), moringa (malunggay), and jute mallows (saluyot).

The city’s Jail Dormitory Family of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Camp Bagong Diwa was one of the recipients of the produce.

The city government encourages residents to create their own urban farms for a healthy, farm-to-table lifestyle.
