THE Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 6 Office gave assurance that law enforcement in Western Visayas is “still strong enough to deal with various crimes, especially illegal drugs.”
The assurance was made amid the announcement that some 13,000 policemen or 20 to 25 percent of the police force in the region, would be transferred to the Negros Island Region or Region 18.
Col. Arnel Solis, spokesman of the Police Regional Office 6, said there is no shortage of personnel in Western Visayas even as recruitment is ongoing and the central office gives the number of new police officers added to the region.
Solis also cited the performance of the police in the region, specifically the arrest of 917 suspects where for illegal drugs, illegal gambling, loose firearm, and other crimes during the first half of June 2024 alone.
