The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday said at least two to three tropical cyclones are forecast to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in July.

Based on their climatological model, most of the storms in July are likely to pass Bicol, move toward Northern Luzon, and recurve to Japan, according to weather specialist Robert Badrina.

However, these cyclones could enhance the southwest monsoon (hanging habagat) and bring heavy rains in parts of Western Luzon and the Visayas.

According to PAGASA’s synopsis, an intertropical convergence zone will affect Palawan and Southern Mindanao.

Easterlies will prevail over the eastern sections of Luzon and the Visayas.
