Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte led the launching of TiboQC, a new federation in the city that addresses the lack of representation for lesbian, bisexual, queer, and transgender men (LBQT) within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Coinciding with the Pride Month, GALANG Philippines Executive and TiboQC convener Anne Lim emphasized the importance in strengthening LBQT voices and ensuring they are better represented in the community.

“TiboQC is a federation of LBQT organizations across Quezon City, consolidating groups from all six districts. This launch marks a crucial step towards amplifying LBQT voices and ensuring greater representation,” said Lim.

The launch ceremony for TiboQC took place at Quezon City Hall, where the federation’s leaders officially took oath before Belmonte.

During the event, Belmonte recognized GALANG’s longstanding role on the Quezon City Pride Council and acknowledged that TiboQC, spearheaded by GALANG, represents a significant step towards raising visibility for lesbians and women within the LGBTQIA+ community.

On the other hand, TiboQC Federation will be participating for the first time in the third Pride Festival entitled #LoveLaban2Everyone at the Quezon Memorial Circle this coming June 22, on Saturday, which will be hosted once again by Quezon City.

Ever since she had been elected, Belmonte took time to focus in having Quezon City as a safe place where diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are celebrated.

“Our beloved city stands loud and proud alongside the LGBTQIA+ community, proclaiming our commitment to creating a supportive environment where everyone can live freely and authentically. Quezon City proudly celebrates diversity and inclusivity, ensuring that all voices are heard and respected,” Belmonte said in a press release.

More than just a celebration, the theme for this year aims to fight for everyone’s equal rights to live and love, regardless of their SOGIESC (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics).
