State-run Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said Friday it expects to complete the construction of a cruise terminal in Siargao by the third quarter of 2024.

PPA general manager Jay Santiago vowed to develop more cruise terminals near the areas of the tourism sites in Siargao, Camiguin, Boracay, Palawan and Puerto Galera.

“We are currently constructing dedicated cruise terminals. Hopefully, by the third quarter, our Siargao Cruise Terminal will be operational,” Santiago said.

“We are also constructing a cruise terminal in Coron, Palawan, so hopefully by next year that will be finished and we have many more locations to start for cruise destinations, add to that the one in Camiguin that is lined up,” he said.

Among the ports under PPA which cater to cruise vessels are the Ports of Currimao in Ilocos Norte, Salomague in Ilocos Sur, Manila, Bohol and El Nido, Palawan.

PPA recorded more than 80,000 cruise ship passengers visiting the Philippines in 2023.

The state-run port authority reported total revenue of P25.44 billion last year, up  23.89 percent from P20.54 billion in 2024.
