The 9th FFCAAI Cup Golf Tournament, organized by the Federation of Filipino Chinese Alumni Associations Inc. (FFCAAI), kicked off at The Riviera Golf & Country Club on Nov. 7, 2024.
About 150 participants from 11 alumni associations took part in the said competition.
In his opening remarks, FFCAAI president Golden David highlighted the significance of the tournament in fostering friendship and unity among alumni from the nation’s top Filipino-Chinese schools.
“Our organization comprises 27 alumni associations from the nation’s most prestigious Chinese educational institutions, schools that have nurtured many distinguished alumni who have made significant contributions across various fields.” he said.
“It is truly inspiring to witness such a high level of engagement and camaraderie, as alumni gather not only to compete but to celebrate friendship and mutual support.” David said.
He expressed pride in the event’s continued growth and thanked the organizing committee, sponsors, and alumni associations for their support in making the event a success.
Mike Lim of the Uno High School Alumni Association claimed the lowest gross score, while JB Gosiaco of the Alumni Association of Xavier School took home the lowest net score award.
In the men’s individual categories, Mike Chan of Uno High School won as the champion in Group A, with Erwin Co of Xavier School as first runner-up and Arnold Chung of Hope Christian High School as second runner up.
Merrick Chua of Chiang Kai Shek College triumphed in Group B, followed by Jett Manuel of Xavier School in second and Samuel Gan Nasis of Hope Christian High School in third.
Marc Yu of St. Jude Catholic School led Group C, with Reagan Lim, also from St. Jude, securing second place and Ramon Cristobal of Grace Alumni Association taking third.
Benson Ng of Hope Christian High School claimed the top spot in Group D, with Alex Chua of Jubilee Christian Academy as first runner up and Christopher Ong of Chiang Kai Shek College as secnd runner up.
In the women’s division, Mariel Tee of the Immaculate Conception Academy Alumnae Association took the championship, with Step Yap and Kim Lim, also from Immaculate Conception Academy, finishing as first and second runner ups.
Special awards were given to Christian Uy of Xavier School for longest drive, Gian Timothy Chung of Uno High School for nearest to the pin and Eric Lim of Grace Alumni Association for most accurate drive.
The Team Award Champion was the Alumni Association of Xavier School, with Immaculate Conception Academy Alumnae Association and St. Jude Catholic School as first and second runner-up.
The tournament not only highlighted the golfing skills of its participants, but also strengthened the sense of community and sportsmanship among the alumni associations.
