The Metropolitan Museum of the Philippines has collaborated with the Singapore Embassy in Manila for the joint exhibition “Chances of Contact: Contemporary Prints from the Philippines and Singapore.”
Serving as part of the celebrations for the 55th anniversary of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Singapore, the exhibition is set to feature creations by 16 artists from both countries. These artworks were made during their residency at the STPI’s Creative Workshop.
The exhibit aims to provide new ways for people to enjoy the art of print and papermaking through the lens of different time periods, mediums, and art forms.
The exhibition is curated by Patrick Flores, Deputy Director of Curatorial & Research at National Gallery Singapore and professor of Art History and Criticism at the University of the Philippines.
In addition to the exhibition, there will also be a printing workshop where attendees can transfer their designs by hand. The workshops will be held on Aug. 24, Aug. 31, Sept. 7, and Sept. 14.
With Aug. 23 declared a holiday, the opening of the “Chances of Contact: Contemporary Prints from the Philippines and Singapore” exhibition will now be on Aug. 24 and will run until Oct. 26 at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila’s South Gallery.
