Caloocan City will begin construction on a four-story building for the new University of Caloocan City (UCC) Bagong Silang Campus to house its College of Engineering.
Mayor Oscar Malapitan joined Rep. Along Malapitan, City Administrator Engr. Oliver Hernandez, UCC OIC Prof. Marilyn De Jesus, and other university officials in the groundbreaking ceremony of the new UCC Campus to be built in Phase 8A, Barangay 176, Caloocan.
According to the mayor, apart from the College of Engineering, the campus will also be used for business-related courses of the university.
In his message, Mayor Oca thanked Puregold as the City Government’s partner in carrying out this project.
"Until my last year as the Mayor of Caloocan, we will try to fulfill the promised big projects including those for the field of education," said Mayor Oca.
"On my birthday, this is my gift for the students of Caloocan — the start of the construction of another UCC Campus for young people who want to become engineers. We want more youth to benefit from free and quality education," he added.
Under Mayor Malapitan, the UCC EDSA Campus and UCC Congressional Campus were built, as well as the renovation of UCC Camarin.
"Despite the pandemic, we will do our best that before the end of my term, we will be able to do and implement many more projects for the people of Caloocan. The Aksyon and Malasakit will continue," he said.
