P&G to produce face masks in Laguna plant

Procter & Gamble (P&G) Philippines said its manufacturing plant in Cabuyao City, Laguna will be one of the P&G manufacturing sites globally that will produce critically needed face masks to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The company said the face masks will not be available for sale, but will be for donation and for use of its employees. The effort aligns with its company principle of “always doing the right thing” by providing resources freely to help address this critical need.

This comes on top of P100 million worth of product donations to hospitals and frontliners, employee job safety and security assistance, and aid that it has extended to business partners.

P&G Philippines said the investment aims to address the growing need for face masks, which is timely given the recent Inter-Agency Task Force’s announcement requiring citizens to wear face masks upon leaving their homes.

P&G said it would collaborate closely with the Department of Health and Department of Trade and the Board of Investments to help hospitals and communities nationwide where there is an unprecedented need for protective supplies to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

“P&G is committed to helping the Philippines fight the spread of COVID-19. We will be investing in additional equipment for the plant to manufacture face masks for donations which will be routed through the DOH and used to help protect our employees as they work to produce critically important cleaning, health and hygiene products for the nation," said P&G Philippines president and general manager Raffy Fajardo.

"Hopefully these masks, along with the thousands of hygiene kits we are donating to several Covid hospitals and frontliners, will play a big part in helping frontliners in the fight against COVID-19," he said.
