SC strengthens judicial cooperation with Australia

The Supreme Court is strengthening judicial cooperation, advancing judicial education, and promoting anti-corruption and institutional integrity initiatives between the Philippines and Australia.

Associate Justice Maria Filomena Singh took part in high-level engagements in Melbourne, Australia last week, meeting members of the legal, academic, and forensic science communities. The visit forms part of broader initiatives aimed at fostering judicial exchange and collaboration between Philippine courts and Australian institutions.

Singh also presented the judiciary’s Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations 2022–2027, which includes judicial modernization, improved access to justice, digital transformation, institutional integrity, and enhanced public confidence in the justice system.

The meetings likewise focused on collaborative initiatives under the Memorandum of Understanding between the Supreme Court and the Federal Court of Australia.

These include reforms to admiralty and maritime procedural rules, development of class action frameworks, court digitization, registry modernization, legal aid programs, and judicial education exchanges.
