Acting Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., on Monday, December 1, welcomed the firm stand of the Association of Generals and Flag Officers (AGFO) rejecting destabilization efforts against the government.
“We fully respect the stand of the retired generals, as some of them also went through the same challenges when they were still active in the service. We take their words of wisdom as a guiding light to continue performing our sworn duty to the Filipino people,” the PNP chief said.
“The Philippine National Police today is a product of the hard work, sacrifices, and reforms geared towards integrity, discipline, and professionalism over the years. We will remain focused on our mandate of serving and protecting the people, and do more to shape the future of the country’s police force,” Nartatez added.
In a statement over the weekend, the AGFO denounced the calls for destabilization and emphasized that retired uniformed personnel, even in retirement, remain committed to the Constitution and civilian supremacy.
It also condemned any unconstitutional acts or political involvement by law enforcement agencies.
AGFO consists of retired military and police generals, including former PNP chiefs.
