Immigration operatives nab 3 Korean fugitives

Three South Korean fugitives wanted for robbery in their country were arrested by Immigration agents in Cebu province.

The foreigners, identified as Han Jungwoo, Jo Woongje, and Lee Chihoon were nabbed in Talisay City, Cebu by elements of the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

The suspects were facing charges of using sophisticated instruments such as tracking devices and surveillance cameras to secretly monitor their victims and obtain their passwords and personal information.

The data obtained were then used to breach security in the homes of their victims which they burglarized and robbed of properties worth more than 4.5 million won, or roughly US$3,300.

BI chief Norman Tansingco said the Koreans, who were the subjects of red notices issued by the Interpol, have warrants issued by a Korean court.

The three are currently detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation.
