The Philippine Air Force (PAF) showcased the musical talent of its members in a campaign for the West Philippine Sea (WPS).
The activity, dubbed “PAF Battle of the Bands 2024: Musika ng Pagkakaisa: Awit Para sa West Philippine Sea,” brought together talented musicians from various PAF units.
This event fostered camaraderie and highlighted their remarkable talents in support of the campaign for the West Philippine Sea.
Ten major PAF bases participated in the competition, presenting a variety of original compositions and cover songs.
Through these original pieces, the bands paid tribute to the West Philippine Sea and inspired patriotism among the audience.
The winners of the competition are:
- Champion: Air Sentinel Band – Antonio Bautista Air Base
- 1st Runner-Up: CJBand – Col Jesus Villamor Air Base
- 2nd Runner-Up: Travelers Band – Edwin Andrews Air Base
- 3rd Runner-Up: Wing Tip Band – Major Danilo Atienza Air Base
- Best Lyrical Composition: Air Sentinel Band – Antonio Bautista Air Base
“The PAF’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ was more than just a musical competition; it was a resounding declaration of the Air Force’s unwavering support for the West Philippine Sea. Through their original compositions and heartfelt performances, the bands expressed their love for the country and their determination to protect its maritime heritage,” said PAF Spokesperson Col Maria Consuelo Castillo.
