In the latest Speedtest Intelligence report by Ookla for Q4 2023, Smart Communications has once again secured its position as the mobile service provider with the fastest median download speeds in the Philippines.
The report reveals that the telco and digital services provider’s median download speed stands at 37.64 Mbps, showcasing a substantial lead over its competitors.
Comparatively, Globe recorded a median download speed of 26.44 Mbps, while DITO registered a speed of 19.74 Mbps.
The country’s average speed is 28.12 Mbps, which is still below the global average of 49.25 Mbps. Among the 146 countries, the Philippines ranks 86th (down by two notches from the previous year). Smart’s network performance is attributed to integrating PLDT and Smart’s fixed and wireless networks.
Covering 97 percent of the population, Smart’s mobile network is supported by PLDT’s robust fiber infrastructure, extending over 1.1 million kilometers as of end-September 2023. This integrated approach ensures Smart maintains high standards of network reliability and speed, reinforcing its position as a leader in the ever-competitive telecommunications industry.
