The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) have announced collaboration to bolster the implementation of a localized agriculture production program.
Taking the lead in the execution of the Halina’t Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay, Kadiwa’y Yaman, Plants for Bountiful Barangays Movement (HAPAG Kay PBBM) Program, the DA and the DILG are spearheading a whole-of-government approach to ensure food security and mitigate poverty in the country.
This initiative was designed to improve access to fresh, safe, and affordable food through urban and peri-urban agriculture, along with more active community engagement.
Under the program, the DA will provide technical assistance, seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, pesticides, and financial support to participating barangays and farmers.
For its part, the DILG will offer training and support to barangay officials to facilitate effective program implementation and mobilize the active participation of barangay residents in driving the initiative forward.
The program, which is still in its early stages of implementation, was launched simultaneously in various pilot barangays across the country, and has gained support from different regions.
The collaboration seeks to boost the HAPAG Kay PBBM Program’s groundwork, contributing to improved food security and sustainable agricultural practices nationwide.
