Cowrie Grill: A decade of cherished culinary experience

The French onion soup was exactly how I remembered it the last time I ate at Cowrie Grill – a rich, warm and savory broth that felt like a mother’s comforting hug.

It was a great way to start a sit-down buffet in the venerable steak house which used to be located within the historic walls of The Manila Hotel and has since transferred to the Promenade at Greenhills in San Juan.

“We are truly grateful for the continuous support and loyalty of our guests since the restaurant’s early days at The Manila Hotel,” said EJ Yap, F&B Director of Cowrie Grill by The Manila Hotel.

As it marked its first decade, Cowrie Grill shone the spotlight on its 10 most popular dishes:

Cowrie Grill is also offering an eat-all-you-can menu that allows diners to savor unlimited starters, sides and desserts, and a choice of two main courses.

The main dishes – Angus beef rib almost as big as one’s face, grilled sea bass, and grilled prawns – will give a lot of bang for one’s buck, with the P2,900 price for the sit-down buffet equivalent to just one steak order in other restaurants.

The truffled bruschetta with anchovy, risotto ball, and involtini salmone con caprino are not to be missed, along with the Caesar salad prepared from scratch, using anchovies and mustard and all the fresh ingredients that make for a good salad.

The sides are French fries, hasselback potatoes, mashed potato, basmati rice, steamed white rice, mushroom risotto, mixed mushrooms, and pasta of the day while the dessert choices include opera cake, pistachio cake, cheesecake, ice cream, and mango pudding, among others.

“Our 10th anniversary is a tribute to our commitment to culinary excellence and the cherished relationships we’ve built over the years,” Yap said.
