NLEX Begins San Simon Pavement Raising for Flood Mitigation, assures lane availability during repairs

NLEX Corporation is actively raising a 200-meter segment in San Simon as part of its flood mitigation initiative. This project, targeted for completion by year-end, will run 24/7 to minimize traffic disruption for motorists.

NLEX Corporation President J. Luigi L. Bautista stated, “We are committed to expediting this project, ensuring faster and safer travel in any weather condition.”

During construction, two lanes per direction will remain open for northbound traffic, and a counterflow system will facilitate seamless travel. The same approach will apply to southbound lanes upon the northbound section’s completion.

Motorists are urged to plan for heavy traffic during the pavement raising. Bautista emphasized, “Temporary inconvenience will lead to long-term benefits, including flood-free roads.”

NLEX has coordinated with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and local government units to establish alternative routes in case of congestion.

Preliminary work, including detailed engineering design completion, has been ongoing since August. After raising the 200-meter portion by 0.7 meters, NLEX plans to add an additional 0.3 meters once DPWH elevates the Tulaoc overpass, achieving a total elevation of 1 meter.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and offer immediate assistance, NLEX will deploy patrol crews, traffic marshals, install strategic traffic signs, and provide regular updates through electronic variable message signs and social media channels.
