The De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) has announced the appointment of Architect Harvey A. Vasquez, M.Arch, UAP as the new Dean for the School of Environment and Design (SED) effective first term of the Academic Year (AY) 2023 to 2024.
Vasquez, a full-time faculty member for eight years, was the Chairperson of the Architecture Program since AY 2020. He likewise served as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Associate Dean for the Environment Studies Cluster (ESC) under the then School of Design and Arts (SDA) during the third term of AY 2021 to 2022.
He earned his Master of Architecture degree majoring in Architectural Heritage Conservation from the University of the Philippines and brings with him 16 years of professional experience with renowned local firms and international offices.
Vasquez is the Principal Architect of Kalamaam Design Studio, which he co-founded in 2014. Presently, one of their projects is the Architectural Heritage Conservation of the Abbey of Our Lady of Montserrat at San Beda University Manila.
He is a proponent of the future of Architecture, as he respects and advocates for the history and heritage of the Philippines and was appointed as Heritage Conservation Consultant of the PNR South Long Haul (SLH) Project of China Railway Design Corporation.
In June 2022, he was voted by Philippine Architecture Schools Association (PhilASA) as the Director of the National Capital Region (NCR) for Fiscal Year 2022 to 2023
Vasquez is an active cultural worker and a member of the International Council on Monuments and Sites Philippines (ICOMOS PH). During the recently concluded Annual General Assembly, he was voted as one of the new Board of Trustees (BoT) and Executive Officers (EOs) as a Treasurer for the term of 2023 to 2026.
His recent appointment is under the Sub-commission on Cultural Heritage (SCH), one of the national committees under the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the government’s cultural arm.
He continues to participate in the organization’s subcommittee of the Sustainable Development Goals Working Group (SDGWG). He has likewise represented ICOMOS PH to the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Stakeholder’s Chamber on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the Philippines.
