Water Philippines Conference 2023 all set, World Water Day Celebrations in place

The 6th Water Philippines Conference is all set this coming March 22-24, 2023 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Metro Manila.

With six successful editions under its belt, Water Philippines 2023 stands as the preeminent business-to-business exhibition for water and wastewater management in the Philippines.

Water Philippines 2023 is organized by Informa Markets and hosted by the Philippine Water Works Association (PWWA) with the theme, “Overcoming Global Challenges in water & Wastewater.”

“Ang PWWA, is an umbrella organization ng mga iba’t ibang organization tungkol sa water industry at it is more of a technical function. We are acting more of a catalyst. Parang kami yung nagiging vehicle ng iba’t ibang mga activities towards the attainment ng aming purpose ng organization at ito ay aming ginagampanan nationally and internationaly,” said PWWA President Vicente B. Joyas during an interview at the PWWA headquarters in Quezon City.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos has been invited as the keynote speaker for the event, and will participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the exhibits in an event that dovetails with the World Water Day celebrations.

We are putting emphasis on preservation of water. The preservation of water remain dahil ang alam ninyo, there will come a time na water will be the main problem of the government. It’s not really the government, it is an international problem. We are also bringing up seminars about climate change although sa factors affecting the distribution of water,” added Joyas who explained the event’s significance during WWD 2023.

Other notable guests invited to the event include Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Senator Grace L. Poe of the Senate of the Philippines.

The plenary session will feature a lineup of prominent speakers, including Dr. Beverly Ho of the Department of Health, Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. of Negros, Atty. Jose Victor Emmanuel De Dios of Manila Water Company, Inc., Ramoncito Fernandez, President & CEO, Maynilad; Dr. IR.TS.HI. Mohmad Asari Daud, President, Malaysian Water Association; Chay Lo, President, Cambodia Water Association;  Atty. Rogelio Quevedo, Gov’t. Corporate Counsel, Office of the Corporate Counsel; Eileen L. Dela Vega, Offer-in-charge, Local Water Utilities Administration; Atty. Patrick Lester Ty, Chief Regulator, Metropolitan Waterworks & Sewerage System; and Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera, President & CEO, Clark Water Development Officer. 

Technical sessions will follow to be participated in by local and international key players in the water industry to discuss global challenges and emerging issues in water and wastewater. 

According to PWWA Executive Director Neneth B. Javier, the Water Expo was organized in partnership with Informa Markets.

Javier added, that the culminating activity will be a gala dinner and fellowship night for all participating government regulatory officers, practitioners and other industry experts to “promote better ties and collaboration between the Philippines and the global water community.”

“Water Philippines is the leading B2B trade event for water and wastewater industry in the Philippines. Our event aims to promote a clean and sustainable water to everyone by giving platform and gathering top industry leaders to share insights and progress on the latest innovations and technologies,” said Informa Markets Senior Event Manager Ms. Haza Tukimin. 

She said the organizing committee is looking forward to seeing water and wastewater experts and professionals be part of Water Philippines. 

Meanwhile, Morong, Rizal Water District General Manager Dr.  Dickson A. San Juan invites everyone to come and participate in the festivities featuring one of most important natural resources to man. 

“Ito ay isang mahalagang event sapagkat dito po itatampok ang ating mga gawaing patubig, ibat-ibang klaseng paglalarawan ng kahalagahan ng tubig mula sa mga innovations, mga bagong teknolohiya, at mga bagong pamamaraang pwedeng matutunan ng bawat isa,” he said.

“Bukas po ito sa maraming tao na gustong pumunta rito at higit sa lahat, tinatayang libo libong mga participants ang mga pupunta rito, hindi lang po sa Pilipinas, kundi pati po ang ating mga partner countries such as International Water Association, Japan Waterworks Association, Vietnam, Malaysia, at marami pang Asian countries na kasama po natin dito sa magaling kaganapan po ito na gaganapin po sa Pilipinas ngayong taon na ito,” he added.
