106 Navotenos complete tech-voc courses

A technical and vocational training school in Navotas City continues to turn out skilled workers, with the latest batch of 106 Navotenos successfully completing their respective courses.

“We congratulate all our graduates and commend them for taking the opportunity to upgrade their skills and improve their abilities. We will have more and numerous employment opportunities once our 343-hectare Tanza Airport Support Services have been completed,” Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

The latest batch who completed their technical and vocational training at the Navotas Vocational Training and Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute consisted of 22 who took up shielded metal arc welding ; 24 in food and beverage services; 23 in baking; six in tailoring; and seven in manicure and pedicure services leading to beauty care.

Ten other students finished the basic Korean language and culture, while 14 others completed the basic visual graphic design course.

“Visit our NavotaAs Hanapbuhay Center if you need assistance looking for jobs or starting your own business. We have various programs tailored to helping Navoteños secure gainful employment and sustainable livelihood,” Tiangco said.

Navotas has four training centers that are open to its contituents and non-constituents alike.

Local esidents may study at the institute free of charge, while non-residents may enroll and take assessment exams for a fee, depending on the course they will take.

Congressman John Rey Tiangco, on the other hand, noted that national-funded scholarships like the Training for Work Scholarship Program and Special Training for Employment Program are continuously offered to local residents.

“Aside from the free courses, eligible trainees can also avail themselves of scholarships that provide allowances and tool kits.  We hope that more Navotenos will grab the opportunity to learn and benefit from these programs,” he said.

Last month, 86 new skilled workers left the NAVOTAAS Institute, with their diplomas in hand.
