In fact, IDC predicts that at least 30% of organizations in the Philippines will transform their respective markets and achieve “digital determination” with the use of technologies, capabilities, and business models by the year 2020.

This means that these digitally-determined organizations will become better in responding to the needs and concerns of future stakeholders with the use of digitally enable products and services.

Sudev Bangah, Managing Director for IDC ASEAN, explained what the organization should have to become digitally determined.

“To be digitally determined, Philippine organizations require more than just resilience, they need a ‘blueprint’ that digital is inherently valuable to the business, and a single digital platform to scale technology innovations,” said Bangah.

He also added that the race to the future enterprises has already begun since new technologies are changing the paradigms for individuals, businesses, industries, economies, and governments.

“And with digital disruption becoming the new normal, no one and no entity will be spared of the need to at least reset or reboot themselves, if not reinvent,” suggested Bangah.

Meanwhile, IDC also prepares the top key trends which will give opportunities and challenges to the IT industry in 2019 and beyond.

Predictions are classified into three sets—reshaping the organizations, redefining leadership roles, and innovating interactions.

On reshaping the organizations, Sean Agapito, Market Analyst explained the need for businesses and entrepreneurs to transform their market to adapt and be digitally enabled to produce products and services for their consumers.

Innovating interactions center around the use of Artificial Intelligence into the product and services of the businesses and organizations, thus improving the speed of customer engagement and giving an edge on cloud deployment.

Agapito also added that it will take at least three to five years before the Philippines sees the predictions come into fruition as the country is in dire need for a better digital landscape to fully harness the ability of digital transformation.
