Brothers Rep. Toby Tiangco and Mayor John Rey Tiangco recently led the blessing and inauguration of the new playground and multi-purpose hall at the NavotaAs Homes-Tanza at Brgy. Tanza 2.

“Play is an integral part of a child’s development. Through play, a child learns how to socialize, build friendships and treat others well. That’s why it is important that we give our children a safe place where they could play with other kids and have fun,” Mayor Tiangco said.

He lamented that there are children who engage in gambling because they have no access to other forms of entertainment and they imitate what adults do.

“To the parents, be good role models to your kids. Our city strives to give you a community complete with facilities, so you could build and live a life of dignity,” he added, reminding residents that gambling and drug use are strictly prohibited and grounds for eviction.

Meanwhile, Cong. Tiangco advised residents to keep NavotaAs Homes clean and orderly.

“This area was once a fishpond. We endeavored to improve this site, so we could give you decent homes. In return, we hope you will take care of your new community and all its facilities,” he said.

The lawmaker also urged parents to ensure their children’s education.

“Let us keep our children in school. They should not be wandering in the streets or doing manual labor. Let us give them the chance to better themselves and create a bright future through education,” he added.

The City Government of Navotas developed the NavotaAs Homes-Tanza playground with the support of Isabel Nicole Limpo whose family donated playground equipment.

The multi-purpose hall, on the other hand, was a project of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Among those who witnessed the inauguration were Vice Mayor Clint Geronimo, Councilor Neil Cruz, barangay officials, Engr. Ernesto Galang of DPWH Malabon-Navotas District Engineering Office and department heads of the city government.
