Mayor Abby aims to replicate successful Makati programs on national scale

Makati City mayor and senatorial aspirant Abigail Binay pledged to replicate the city’s successful programs at the national level to ensure every Filipino has access to better healthcare, education, and livelihood.

Speaking at the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc., Binay shared her vision of a future where everyone can enjoy tangible benefits from economic growth, with no one left behind.

She believes that through proper budget allocations or public-private partnerships (PPPs), Makati’s successful programs can be scaled for nationwide implementation.

Binay said her city’s experience has demonstrated how partnerships with the private sector can drive transformative progress, from healthcare to infrastructure, delivering immense benefits for residents.

“These programs are not luxuries—they are necessities that every Filipino deserves. There is no reason why these benefits cannot be implemented nationwide, especially for the economically disadvantaged,” she said.

The mayor said Makati’s success is proof that transformative programs are not only possible but also scalable. “Programs like the Yellow Card, Project FREE, Project FEED, and our job generation initiatives can be blueprints for national progress,” she said.

“These are not distant dreams—they are achievable goals we can reach with the right priorities, partnerships, and shared commitment to progress,” she added.

Mayor Binay said good governance is essential for achieving inclusive progress, as it ensures that resources are used wisely, systems are streamlined, and decisions are made with the welfare of the community at its core.

The city’s success is attributed to health, education, good governance, and inclusive economic growth, referred to as the “four pillars symbolizing the power of sustained and people-centered governance.”

The Yellow Card program, which provides comprehensive healthcare services, has become one of Makati’s best practices.

Also known as the Makati Health Plus Program, it offers regular checkups, free maintenance medicines for hypertension and diabetes, unlimited dialysis, and chemotherapy treatments.

Makati also harnessed education to ensure a brighter future for children, providing free uniforms, rubber shoes, school bags, supplies, jackets, and rain gear under Project FREE.

Project FEED provides nutritious snacks for students during school hours, addressing hunger among children and easing their burden on families.

The city is committed to modernizing education through smart classrooms, integrating technology into schools to prepare students for a fast-changing, technology-driven world.

Binay is currently seeking a Senate seat in the 2025 midterm elections after leading Makati City since 2016.
