RMN, STM set Broadcast Journo course

RADIO Mindanao Networks, Inc., the largest radio network in the Philippines, has partnered with the Saint Mutien College in Pampanga and the Benita & Catalino Yap Foundation to offer an apprenticeship-based Broadcast Journalism course through the Asian Finishing School of STM.

Anchored on the idea that actual work, beyond on-the-job training or practicum, is the best preparation for a job in Broadcast Journalism, students at the AFS will be exposed to all disciplines that may be found in a radio, TV, satellite, online, or cable broadcast network.

These include research, music programming, administration, field reporting, news desk, anchoring, marketing and sales, production, and other assignments.

As a blended program, the course includes both live and media-based instruction and interaction.

It will cover a review of relevant theoretical and historical knowledge and information, a briefing on relevant industry jobs and responsibilities, mentoring and tutoring by industry professionals, individual and group training, instruction and discussion.

 staying in the location of a broadcast station such as Dagupan, Naga, Manila, and others, as well as field exposure, and formal classroom lectures.

The full curriculum is composed of four quadsems and a summer term, with enrollment and graduation depending on the results of oral and written vetting.
