Whisper Philippines recently culminated their puberty education program, inviting 21 lucky students from Natividad High School, Pampanga, their moms, teachers, and representatives from the Department of Education.

A special forum about puberty and feminine hygiene was held along with an exclusive meet and greet with brand ambassador, Nadine Lustre. the new Whisper Cottony Clean with Dermacare Lotion was also introduced with dermatologist, Dr. Audrey Dy Chua present to discuss the importance of keeping vaginal skin moisturized and protected from discomfort and irritation especially during red days.

“Women are most vulnerable to chafing and rashes during their red days.” says Dr. Chua.  “Aside from keeping the area clean with regular washing, it’s important to choose sanitary pads that are made with quality materials that are gentle on the skin and offer fast absorption.” ,

We asked for how Nadine stays confident and unstoppable throughout her monthly cycle and she offers these tips:

“I never leave home without my emergency period kit! Since I’m often at shoots, road shows, or events, I make sure to keep a stash of napkins and extra underwear in my bag!”

Since it takes some time for girls’ cycles to regularize, it’s important to stay prepared! More than anything, it’s tagos, or staining our clothes that worries women the most. In case a stain does get onto your clothes, a handy hack would be to apply some hydrogen peroxide onto the affected area then wipe off with cotton or tissue paper!

“I keep moving! Going to the gym and dance rehearsals help me manage stress and cramps that accompany my monthly period. Sa age niyo dapat nag- e-enjoy lang kayo, kasi pagtanda niyo, i-wisish niyo na maging bata kayo. ”

Life should not stop during red days. Staying active throughout one’s menstrual cycle not only promotes healthy blood circulation but also helps us feel better emotionally. When we exercise, our body releases chemicals called endorphins. These interact with our brain and help lift our mood.

In order to easily move around during red days, a pad that is long enough and will stay in place is essential. While a regular pad does the trick for most women, it’s best to play on the safe side. For heavy days and activities that require lots of movement, an XLong or XXLong pad might be best for effective coverage.

“Ask questions! My mom helped me through puberty. Hearing her stories and advice they gave help me feel at ease during my red days! Hindi ako masyadong nahirapan. Very smooth yung experience kasi nandiyan yung mom ko. Siya ang nagturo sa akin kung ano gagawin at ano gagamitin.”

Red days tend to make women feel insecure, uncomfortable, and confused. For young ladies, puberty can be scary with all the sudden changes so she turns to her mom, ate or teacher who has been through it all.

Whisper Philippines conducts talks around schools across the country in order to help young girls understand what they go through during puberty. Beyond introducing the products, the initiative provides young girls with insight that is necessary to understand the changes that their bodies are going through. In 2016, the program has reached thousands of girls in public and private schools around the country.

Not all pads are created equally. A pad with long-lasting 12-hour leakage protection and anti-leak barriers from all sides will be able to give women the peace of mind she needs but they should do more than just absorb and prevent leakage. Since the skin is at its most sensitive on that time of the month, it’s important that “skin care down there” is placed at the forefront. Whisper Cottony Clean with Dermacare Lotion has technology that makes the pad gentle on skin as it continues to promise up to 12 hours of leakage protection. It has chamomile and vitamin B5 forming a thin layer against the skin for extra care and protection reducing friction that cause redness, itch and rashes.
