THE Department of Justice on Sunday held an inquest proceeding for the crime of rebellion against Mohammad Naoim Maute alias Almahid Pangompig Romato.

The inquest proceedings was conducted inside Camp Evangelista in Cagayan De Oro City.

Authorities believed that Maute is the youngest brother of Omarkhayam and Abdullah Maute, leaders of the terror group.

He is among those suspected of rebellion under Arrest Order No. 1, issued by the Defense department on May 29. He was arrested in Barangay Sta. Cruz. Macasandig. Cagayan de Oro City last June 15.

Based on police report, he was using a fake ID of  Mindanao State University bearing the name of Alfaiz Mamintal to get through checkpoints.

An inquest is an informal and summary investigation conducted by the public prosecutor in a criminal case involving persons arrested and detained without the benefit of a warrant of arrest.

It also determines whether the evidence is sufficient enough to seek court approval to keep the person in detention.
