Be wary of ‘ticket scam’–CebuPac

The Cebu Pacific Air has reiterated its call to the public to be aware of a scam on social media claiming it is giving away free tickets as a reward for answering a promotional survey.

“Beware of a scam claiming to be a promotion authorized by Cebu Pacific Air. Please be advised that the circulating “promos” promising free ticket giveaways as rewards for completing a survey is not a legitimate Cebu Pacific contest, campaign, or initiative,” said the Cebu Pac management.

“We encourage our community to remain vigilant and be careful when sharing their information with these third-party sites. We are working with Facebook and relevant authorities on this issue. Keep alerting us about accounts posing as CEB!,” it added.

Late last month, flag carrier Philippine Airlines also denied initiating a promo giving away free tickets as part of its anniversary.

“Such false and malicious advertising thru the misuse of the Facebook platform will not be tolerated,” said PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna.

Villaluna clarified that “PAL advertisements and promotional materials are only released through the official PAL Facebook page, PAL website www.philippineairlines.com and traditional platforms (print, radio, television).

“This was the second time the PAL management came up with a warning against false advertising involving airline promotions.

Just recently, PAL made the same warning in the wake of a fake advertisement circulating in the social media, stating that followers of the airline will get a free trip to Boracay if they like the post and write as comment “Salamat Philippine Airlines.” The material uses images of PAL logo and the Island of Boracay.

Under the Consumer Act of the Philippines, any person found guilty of false advertising shall be subjected to fines or imprisonment of not less than three months but not more than two years or both upon the discretion of the court.
