The Senate Committees on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs continue the investigation on the government campaign against illegal drugs.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre narrated how convicted drug lords inside Building 14 of New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City are able to use cellular phones in their drug deals.
Aguirre made this report to the senators as they consider amendments to the Anti-Wiretapping Law.
PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa says, the PNP has no capability to wiretap telephone conversations.
“How I wish we have that capability,” he said.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director (PDEA) General Isidro Lapeña also said, PDEA has no means of listening to cellular phone conversations of drug personalities.
Meanwhile, Senior Assistant State Prosecutor Richard Fadullon gave Senator Nancy Binay an update on drug-related cases filed in court by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
