THE Ecowaste Coalition demanded the removal from the market of Belo Essential Products line containing isobutyl paraben, which the group claimed, pose health risks to the public.
This came at the heels of the Food and Drug Administration’s Advisory No. 2016-032 on April 20 reiterating its ban on isobutyl paraben and four other types of paraben in line with the Asean Cosmetics Directive.
The five parabens that the FDA banned “must not form part of the composition of cosmetic products.”
Authorities identified parabens as endocrine-disrupting chemicals based on evidence that they interfere and mimic hormones, particularly estrogen, which is the primary female sex hormone.
