Bugatti has taken the wraps off its first-ever hybrid supercar, the Tourbillon, boasting a staggering price tag of over $4 million. With a top speed of around 275 mph (445 km/h) and an 1,800-horsepower powertrain, the Tourbillon represents the pinnacle of Bugatti’s engineering prowess.

The Tourbillon’s carbon fiber body and 3D-printed components house a unique hybrid powertrain consisting of three electric motors and a newly designed 1,000-horsepower combustion engine. This potent combination allows the hypercar to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in a mind-bending time, though Bugatti has not yet revealed the exact figure.

Despite the growing industry shift towards electric vehicles, Bugatti’s owner, Mate Rimac, revealed that the super-rich clientele the brand caters to have shown a preference for hybrid supercars over fully electric models. “The super-rich who are Bugatti’s main clients were turning against electric supercars,” Rimac stated earlier this year.

Continuing Bugatti’s tradition of incorporating high-end craftsmanship, the Tourbillon features a minimalist interior design that eschews large digital displays in favor of a system of “titanium, sapphire and rubies” for the speedometer, tachometer, and other gauges, designed and manufactured by Swiss watchmakers.

With a starting price of 3.8 million euros ($4.1 million), the Tourbillon is undoubtedly aimed at the most discerning and affluent automotive enthusiasts. Bugatti plans to produce just 250 units of the hybrid hypercar, with deliveries scheduled to commence in 2026.

The introduction of the Tourbillon marks a significant milestone for Bugatti as it navigates the shift towards electrification while maintaining its reputation for building some of the world’s most exclusive and performance-oriented vehicles. This hybrid offering provides a bridge between the brand’s legendary combustion-powered models and its all-electric future.
