Valenzuela City is making strides in environmental responsibility by partnering with ACMobility and BYD Cars Philippines to launch the largest electric vehicle (EV) police fleet in the country. Under this innovative collaboration, the city has contracted the delivery of 41 BYD Dolphin electric vehicles, marking a significant step in enhancing public safety while promoting eco-friendly transportation.
The introduction of these EVs aligns with Valenzuela’s sustainability goals and adherence to the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act, which encourages the adoption of cleaner technologies in government operations. The BYD Dolphin not only promises reduced operational costs—potentially saving the city up to 70% in fleet maintenance over five years—but also boasts zero tailpipe emissions, making it a financially and environmentally sound choice.
Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines, emphasized the financial benefits of the fleet, stating, “By eliminating the need for fuel and significantly reducing maintenance costs, the BYD Dolphin represents a smart investment for the city.”
Valenzuela City is already committed to sustainability through various initiatives, including a materials recovery facility and a Clean & Green program. The integration of the BYD Dolphin units into the police force will further reduce the city’s reliance on fossil fuels, leading to improved air quality in an area with substantial industrial activity.
ACMobility will support this transition by deploying 20 7kW and 2 22kW electric vehicle chargers throughout the city, ensuring the efficient operation of the electrified fleet. Mayor Weslie Gatchalian remarked, “We set a powerful example for private companies and individuals to reconsider their choices. Today, we take the wheel of change towards a cleaner future.”
