QC grants Marinduque town P1.5m for market

QUEZON City Mayor Herbert Bautista lauded on Wednesday the 32-member City Council for having the compassion to help other local governments in need of help.

The council approved a resolution authorizing Bautista to give Marinduque province P1.5 million in financial assistance to help rebuild the public market in Sta. Cruz town, which was destroyed by Typhoon “Niña” in 2016.

The cash-strapped municipality could not sustain the rehabilitation of the market due to the extensive damage brought about by the typhoon that hit the province last December.

According to Bautista, the humanitarian assistance—which his administration extends to areas hit by destructive man-made and natural calamities—is an extension of gratitude for the continuous growth of the city’s economy and expressing sympathy to the typhoon-stricken victims of disastrous calamities.

On the request of Sta. Cruz Mayor Red Martinez, the Quezon City government granted the funds for the public market, Bautista said.

The city government has always conducted numerous humanitarian missions to reach out to victims of natural calamities through relief services and assistance, the mayor added.

“Quezon City is proud to be of help to localities recover from the destructive forces of calamities,” Bautista said.
