A momentous revival: Toyota to launch All-New Tamaraw next month

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially announced the much-anticipated launch of the all-new Tamaraw, set to take place on December 6, 2024, at major malls including Glorietta, Trinoma, and SM Mall of Asia. The vehicle will also be showcased in key locations such as Laguna, Pampanga, Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro, allowing eager customers to experience the model firsthand. Ahead of the public launch, a ceremonial roll-off is scheduled for November 28, 2024, at TMP’s Santa Rosa plant, where the vehicle is locally assembled. Just over a year ago, TMP unveiled a prototype of the all-new Tamaraw during its 35th anniversary celebration, giving everyone something to look forward to – to say the least.

The Tamaraw holds a special place in the hearts of Filipinos, having been an intrinsic part of Toyota’s history in the Philippines. Originally introduced in the 1970s by Toyota’s previous distributor during the Marcos administration, the Tamaraw quickly became a symbol of reliable transportation. Its revival in the 1990s as the FX further solidified its status, transforming it into a byword for Asian Utility Vehicles (AUVs) in public transport.

Over the decades, the Tamaraw has evolved, yet it has consistently represented practicality and value for Filipino families and businesses. The new-generation Tamaraw, unveiled last year during TMP’s 35th anniversary celebration, promises to blend this rich heritage with modern features and specifications tailored to the needs of today’s drivers.

Since its introduction, the Tamaraw has garnered significant attention at automotive events, including the recent Philippine International Motor Show. This renewed interest highlights TMP’s commitment to meeting the demands of the local market while honoring its legacy.

As the launch date approaches, potential buyers are encouraged to reserve their units at the public displays from December 6 to 8, 2024. With the new Tamaraw poised to hit the roads by January 2025, Toyota is set to rejuvenate its presence in the AUV segment, continuing a legacy that has long been a cornerstone of Filipino mobility.
