Another GReat Year of Racing Crosses the Finish Line: Toyota Motor Philippines Crowns Champions of the 2024 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup

Iñigo Anton claims championship in the Super Sporting Class, Alain Alzona in the Sporting Class, Bong Garbes in the Promotional Class, Russel Reyes in the Novice Class

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially wrapped up the 2024 season of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup (TGR Philippine Cup), celebrating the achievements of its racers after three thrilling weekends of competition. The event, held on November 9, saw Iñigo Anton from the Toyota Balintawak – Obengers Racing Team secure the championship in the Super Sporting Class, while Alain Alzona from Toyota General Santos – Chooks-To-Go Racing Team claimed victory in the Sporting Class. Bong Garbes from Inbox – Toyota San Fernando took the top spot in the Promotional Class, and Russel Reyes from TOYOTA GAZOO Racing PH triumphed in the Novice Class.

TMP President Masando Hashimoto opened the final race weekend with a warm welcome, remarking on his commitment to the event despite a busy travel schedule. “I wanted to meet the racers, mechanics, coaches, and motorsports fans—this is my motivation for coming back,” he said.

The day kicked off with intense competition, featuring sprint races across all classes. In the Novice Class, Pablo Salapantan emerged victorious after a fierce battle, while Bong Garbes dominated the Promotional Class. Danzel Waytan converted his pole position into a win in the Sporting Class, and Russel Cabrera led the Super Sporting Class with a strong performance.

The excitement continued with a special drifting exhibition by professional drifters Dane Cruz and Hans Jimenez, alongside thrilling hot laps from members of the GR Supra, GR Yaris, and GR 86 car clubs.

The Endurance Race saw 34 racers compete in a challenging 1.5-hour event, where strategy and endurance were key. Anton once again showcased his skills, claiming victory in the Super Sporting Class, while Alzona and Garbes also secured wins in their respective classes.

As the day concluded, attendees enjoyed performances from local band The Juans, further enhancing the festive atmosphere. During the awarding ceremony, Hashimoto congratulated all participants, emphasizing the importance of motorsports in bringing communities together.
