HOME courts are breeding grounds for raw athletic talent and skill—something that University Athletic Association of the Philippines stars Thirdy Ravena, Matt Nieto and Mike Nieto know all too well.

In an online video, Ravena and the Nieto brothers share how their own inter-village league experiences helped shape their game and fueled their passion for the sport, making them an inspiration for the players of the first ever Metro Manila Inter-Village League (MMIVL) powered by PLDT Home Fibr, the country’s No. 1 Home broadband.

“From starting at the village court to entering UAAP, and eventually, playing for the country, hindi nawawala ang motivation namin which is to prove who you are as a team and as an individual,” Matt Nieto said. “It’s important to remember your roots and how you started so you can always get better.”

MMIVL is a basketball tournament open to all Fibr-powered villages in the National Capital Region, attracting young and seasoned players. For young athletes, MMIVL is a platform to hone their talent for the big leagues, while for local basketball legends, the tournament serves as a chance to showcase their skills and share their experiences.

A total of 59 teams have joined MMIVL, all vying for the tilt’s first championship title, as well as cash and exciting prizes. The teams are divided into two brackets—29 & under and 30 & above. The former has six divisions—North A & B, South A & B and East-West A & B while the latter has five—North A & B, South A & B and East.

Leading the 29 & under are Philam Homes and Filinvest Homes 2. For the 30 & above bracket, Ayala Heights and Philam Homes.

MMIVL has a single round-robin elimination format. The top four teams per bracket are determined through a round of 16 games, where winners advance to the semi-finals, and eventually, to the finals in October.

MMIVL comes on the heels of PLDT partnership with NBA to offer the NBA League Pass, which allows customers to stream the NBA games live or on-demand and enjoy exclusive NBA content for only P50 a day.

PLDT empowers Filipino families with the strongest connections through PLDT Home Fibr, the fastest fixed line network in the country, according to the latest Speedtest Report by Ookla, the global leader in internet testing and analysis.
