Actress, producer, and Quezon City Film Commission (QCFC) executive director Liza Diño served as a jury member for the inaugural Karre Mouy Short Film Producer Program in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
As part of the jury, Diño worked alongside filmmakers Aditya Assarat from Thailand and Davy Chou from Cambodia, offering insights to young Cambodian filmmakers during the program’s final pitching event.
Diño also had the opportunity to discuss with film producer Loy Te from Kongchak Pictures how government support can help Cambodian cinema thrive. They reflected on Te’s participation in last year’s QCinema Project Market, where Diño’s invitation helped him recognize the importance of a program that equips Cambodian filmmakers with tools and knowledge about the global film industry.
“I’m really humbled to know that my work with the FDCP and now in QCFC is being recognized and that the success we had is inspiring other industries to follow suit. It means more to me than words can express,” Diño wrote in an Instagram post.
“There’s so much we can learn from the growth of the Philippine film industry, particularly its increasing presence on the global stage. I’m hopeful that together, we can explore new ways to support and uplift local productions in Cambodia,” she added.
The Karre Mouy Short Film Producer Program is organized by production companies Kongchak Pictures and Anti-Archive, aimed at training young Cambodian producers and filmmakers in the various stages of film production.
