P-pop groups win big at 37th Awit Awards

With the rise of P-pop in recent months, many local P-pop groups have become household names while their songs continue to be loved by the public. As these groups continue to have their songs on the charts and remain in the minds of many, their presence has not gone unnoticed.

During the recently concluded 37th Awit Awards, P-pop sensations BINI and SB19 have garnered several accolades for their musical feats this year.

Since their debut in 2021, BINI has received multiple nominations from the award-giving body but has not won in any category. With 2024 serving as the year which cemented their rise to fame, BINI has received multiple awards in the categories of “Breakthrough Artist of the Year,” “Favorite Music Video of the Year” (“Karera”), “Favorite Record of the Year” (“Pantropiko”), “Favorite Song of the Year” (“Pantropiko”), and “Favorite Group Artist.”

In their acceptance speech for their awards, the girls expressed their immense gratitude to their fans along with the people who have helped them behind the scenes throughout the years.

P-pop boy group SB19 receives two awards for the hit song ‘Gento’

Meanwhile, SB19 has received several awards from Awit Awards throughout the years with some being “Favorite Breakthrough Artist of the year” and “Most Streamed Artist.” Last year, the group received the “Best Dance/Electronic Recording” award for the song “WYAT (Where You At).”

As the group continues to cement itself as one of the most prominent groups in the country, the boy band received recognition for their hit song “Gento” as it earned them the awards for “Best Performance by a Group” and “Best Dance/Electronic Recording.”

In a post on their social media pages, SB19 expressed their gratitude for receiving the two awards.

“We are thanking the Awit Awards once again for the awards. We will never forget these kind of award-giving bodies that continue to honor Filipino music,” the band said in its post’s caption.

P-pop boy group Yes My Love wins the ‘Favorite New Group Artist’ award

The members of the group also took the time to thank their fans as well as their team for their unwavering support in their acceptance speeches during the awards night.

“To be recognized for our efforts is very heartwarming and I also want to applaud every artist here who makes their own music,” said SB19’s leader Pablo.

Apart from their group efforts, SB19’s Josh Cullen was also recognized for his solo work as he received the “Best Music Video of the Year” award for his debut solo single “Wild Tonight.” In his speech, Josh expressed his gratitude for the award and joked about beating the group as SB19 was also nominated for the category for its songs “Gento” and “I Want You.”

Adding to the P-pop groups’ roster of recognition from the Awit Awards is Cornerstone Entertainment’s boy group Yes My Love, who received the “Favorite New Group Artist” award. Making its debut in 2023 with its single “Rhythm,” Love is composed of Niko, Joshua, Brian, Jeff, and RZ.

As P-pop continues to grow more with the support of fans as well as the addition of new groups, recognition from such award-giving bodies like the Awit Awards showcase how much talent these artists have in store for all to see.
