K-pop powerhouse BTS has further cemented its place in music history as one of the most influential pop acts of the 21st century. Named No. 19 on Billboard’s list of the 25 Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century, the septet has shattered records, paved the way for K-pop, and captivated audiences worldwide.

“No K-pop group—or group in general—has been able to accomplish what Bangtan has this century. From creating a global community to expanding K-pop well outside of its genre and delivering seven successful solo acts, BTS truly paved the way,” Billboard wrote.

Formed in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment, BTS, which stands for Bangtan Boys or Bulletproof Boy Scouts, quickly rose to fame with its infectious music and empowering messages. The group’s unique blend of hip-hop, R&B, and pop, coupled with intricate choreography and relatable lyrics, set them apart.

BTS’ impact on the global music scene is undeniable, achieving unprecedented success in the U.S. with six Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits and six Billboard 200 No. 1 albums. The group’s ability to “bend and blend genres” has showcased the members’ diverse talents as vocalists, rappers, and dancers.

Beyond BTS’s musical achievements, one of the key factors contributing to its rise is its ability to connect with fans on a deep emotional level. Its music often explores themes of self-love, mental health, and social issues, empowering listeners to embrace their individuality and strive for a better world.

The award-winning group is known for hits such as “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “Spring Day.”
