Young performer Psalms David gives his fans another musical treat with the release of his sophomore single under GMA Music titled “I Need To Know.”
Formally launched on April 15, the song was composed by Christian Bautista who served as the 20-year-old singer’s mentor during his stint in the reality singing show, The Clash.
According to the singer, the song was made to be sung in high notes. When it was given to him, he challenged himself to sing it in the original key.
“This song, which tells the story of a man who wants to know where he stands with the girl he loves, really tested my limits as a singer. But I’m proud that I’m able to showcase my vocal ability in this song,” Psalms shared with Manila Standard Entertainment in a virtual interview.
Psalms highlighted the story behind the song discussing how it tackles making important decisions at the beginning of blooming love.
“The song explores different sides of love life. It’s the getting-to-know stage and you realized that you’re not the only person who is wooing the girl’s heart,” he expressed.
Compared to his debut single released a year ago, there was a conscious effort to make “I Need To Know” fresh and different.
“This song is way different compared to my debut single, which is a heartbreak song and a ballad. This one has a futuristic sound added to it. And this song is very relatable to this generation. Sir Christian added a few beats that are very in today,” he added.
Psalms shared how he related to its heartfelt lyrics and hopes the fans would connect to its message, “Sir Christian and I had a talk about the song and we wanted to make our viewers know that in any relationship, it is a priority to communicate always. Since I haven’t had any relationship, I can relate this song with myself in times when I need to decide whether I’ll choose myself or other people. There are many ways to connect with this song that’s why I’m excited to know how my listeners can relate to it.”
In the trying time we’re in, Psalms believes in the power of music which can bring comfort to the Filipino audience. According to him, it helped a lot in coping with the current situation, “It became my fortress. I believe music is an instrument of God to comfort us during this pandemic.”
On April 25, catch him as he delivers a powerful performance of his latest single together with Christian Bautista himself at GMA Network’s weekend variety program All-Out Sundays.
Tune in to “I Need To Know” on GMA Music’s official YouTube channel, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and other digital streaming platforms worldwide.
