Openly gay Beatrice Luigi Gomez of Cebu City won the coveted Miss Universe Philippines 2021 crown in a live coronation held Thursday (Sept. 30) night in Panglao, Bohol.
During the Question and Answer round, Gomez was asked by pageant host KC Montero: "If during your reign, things happened in your life that made you sad and uninspired, how would you be able to continue inspiring others."
"It is very evident that all of us went through difficulties during this pandemic but it is also proof that we're able to rise to the occasion and if anything happened to me during my reign, I will not give up. I will inspire others by rising from the problems that I am encountering. I'd like to inspire them that whatever you're going through, you'll be able to overcome it," the 26-year-old beauty, who's also one of the most decorated candidates during the finals winning Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown, answered.
Gomez will represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2021 pageant, which will be held in Israel in December.
